About the SFGP interns
Karin
and Jamie are interns for the Sioux Falls Green Project (and are lovin’ every minute of it!). We’re here to let you know about the green movement in Sioux Falls and the steps SFGP is taking to make our city more sustainable.

We have events, projects, and volunteer opportunities. Have questions for us? Ask us anything about SFGP –we’re here to help. Plus, we would love to collaborate with any other tree huggers out there.
Karin
Karin Costin, a senior at Augustana College, was drawn to the Sioux Falls area because it reminded her of where she grew up–the flood infested Red River Valley. Her childhood consisted of her running around chasing butterflies, handling earthworms, and rollerblading so much she had nothing left for knees. Her more mature, yet still eco-savvy self, enjoys running, downhill, cross country, and water skiing, yoga, biking, and spending time at the lakes. She cherishes her summer months and is trying not let her work with the Green Project interfere with her love of summer.
Karin recently returned from a semester abroad on the Gold Coast of Australia. She studied psychology and the aboriginal culture and history of Australia. She had the opportunity to take a course called, “The Art of Living”–here she learned how to live better in this world. This deepened her understanding of herself and her connection to the earth. She will never forget when she went scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
She hopes to incorporate her background at the Green Project and become on of the greenest physical therapists –ever. She appreciates the opportunity to work with the Sioux Falls Green Project, and at the end of the summer she is going to miss sharing her cube with Jamie, trash talking, failed bus trips with Joe, taking the stairs to the 6th floor of Cherapa …and last but not least…listening to the John Tesh radio show everyday.
Jamie
Jamie Horter is on a journey, searching for the niche in this world that is hers to develop. As a student of Augustana College in Sioux Falls SD, Jamie has rooted herself in seeking the right questions to ask about solving the world’s most pressing issues. Her travels have taken her to places where stories of life, hardship, and hope further strengthened her passions to pursue solutions for hunger, poverty, and environmental and social injustices.
Jamie spends her time working to build a sustainable community and promote the value of every individual’s actions through the Sioux Falls Green Project. She practices the art of listening in order to learn how to live as a steward of the earth and discover what responsibilities we each hold through our interconnectedness as global citizens.
